The Swartberg100 race this weekend had 500 riders at the start over the two distances with Jaco Van Dyk as overall winner outsprinting his opponent Marco Joubert on the line after a tough 170km race over the Swartberg Pass. Wessel Botha finished overall third at 1m41. The next riders are already at 6 or more minutes.
Tiffany Cromwell was the big favourite in the women’s race and confirmed that status with a 14-minute gap towards Robyn De Groot who rolled over the line in company of Valtteri Bottas, F1-driver and Cromwell’s boyfriend while Layla Schwellnus finished as third more than 30 minutes behind!
In the mediofondo starting halfway and counting as qualifier distance for the men over 60 and women over 50, the victories in those categories were for respectively Rassie Smit and Nicolle Weir.
