Road towards 2029 UCI Gravel Worlds at Gravel Suisse

The second edition of the UCI Gravel Suisse, set to host the 2029 UCI Gravel World Championships, has unveiled a challenging new course that’s a true paradise for climbers. A diverse field of 500 riders from 22 countries have registered to tackle the demanding terrain.

The race kicks off from the UCI headquarters in Aigle, plunging riders into the heart of the Alpes Vaudoises. The 100km long course starts with a flat 10km warm-up before a sharp 4km climb and a descent back to the Rhone River valley. The real test begins at the 50km mark with a grueling 25km ascent, taking riders from 400m to 1820m above sea level at the Col de la Croix plateau, where the finish line awaits. The total elevation gain for this course is 3316m.

For older age categories, a shorter 77km course is available, skipping the initial climb but sharing the same hard final. This serves as a qualifier distance for men over 60 and women over 50, with a total elevation gain of 2543m.

In the elite categories, Danish Annika Langvad is the favourite for the women’s race, while the men’s elite category promises an open and exciting battle with numerous strong contenders.
