The Swedish UCI Gravel World Series event this weekend was run as a 3 stays stage race with a time trial on Friday and two gravel races over the weekend from which the Saturday gravel race counting 104km (older categories) or 140km (younger categories) counted as official UCI qualifier event for the World Championships.
Niki Terpstra (NED) proved to be strong after a long inactivity period earlier this season due to an injury to win with 47 seconds ahead of Paul Voss (GER) who won the sprint for second place leaving Jasper Ockeloen (NED), last year’s winner and Gustav Frederik Dahl (DEN) behind for the overall men podium. A second win for Terpstra after also winning the French qualifier in Millau last season.
Multiple World Champion Marianne Vos (NED) also enjoys gravel racing a lot as we saw her winning the female race after a late attack. Annika Langvad (DEN), former MTB cross country and marathon world champion got overall second 4 seconds behind Vos while Rosa Maria Kloser (GER) got overall third at 10 seconds. The three got a 7-minute gap to the rest of the field.
On Friday the 19 km time trial was won by Joris Nieuwenhuis (NED) and Hanna Johansson (SWE) while Tobias Perry (GBR) and Josie Knight (GBR) won the last 80km stage on Sunday.
