The scenic region around Millau was the backdrop for the next qualifying event in the Trek UCI Gravel World Series. With sunbaked gravel sections, challenging climbs and a strong field, everything was in place for a day of exciting racing. And the Wish One gravel race held up to its promise.
In the women’s event, Carolin Schiff (GER) dominated the majority of the race, completing the 146 km course in 05:13:20. She took first place, 12 minutes ahead of her compatriot Jade Treffeisen. 2 minutes later, Rosa Klöser (DEN) completed the podium.
In the men’s race, Toby Perry (GBR) from Education First attacked after 90 km, breaking away from a group of a dozen riders. Home riders Geoffrey Soupe and Nathan Haas, as well as Russell Finsterwald (USA) launched a counteroffensive. Still, Perry came in first in 4:34:43. 7 minutes later, the chasing group battled and sprinted for the remaining podium spots on the final climb, with Soupe taking 2nd place and Finsterwald 3rd.
