Ulven Gravl (The Wolf) has been a recreational event that moved into a competitive event with a course stretched in and around Dronninglund in northern Jutland (Denmark).
Course
The race takes place in the scenic surroundings of Dronninglund Storskov, one of Northern Jutland’s largest and most beautiful forests. Most of the course runs through this area, offering riders a varied, exciting, and hilly route that showcases some of the finest natural scenery in the region.
The course distance for one lap is 41.3km
Men
- Elite: 4 laps = 165.2km
- Age Group 19–39: 4 laps = 165.2 km
- Age Group 40–54: 3 laps = 123.9 km
- Age Group 55+: 2 laps = 82.6 km
Women
- Women Elite: 3 laps = 123.9 km
- Age Group 19–44: 3 laps = 123.9 km
- Age Group 45+: 2 laps = 82.6 km
The first 2 km of each lap are on smooth, slightly uphill asphalt roads, followed by about 2 km of wide gravel roads. After approximately 4.5 km, the first climb begins, a 3 km ascent leading to the highest point of the lap.
This setup ensures a safe start on wide roads, with the first climb naturally spreading out the field before riders enter more technical sections. The course is generally undulating, with many short climbs. The highest point is 136 meters above sea level. The surface is predominantly gravel (approximately 75 percent), and each lap includes 500 meters of elevation gain. Most descents are fast and flowing, with few sharp turns.
