Gravel One Fifty was the largest gravel event in the UCI Gravel World Series so far, held over the weekend in Roden, in the Dutch province of Drenthe. The race featured fast and flat sections on dusty farmer and forest roads, with an distance of 150km for the younger age groups, while the older age groups competed on a shorter 80km course.
After the start, three riders quickly broke away from the pack. Dutch rider Sam Gademan, Danish rider Jonas Lindberg, and Dutch rider Bjorn Bakker formed the breakaway after 4km, establishing a 2-minute lead after 50km of racing. However, Bakker’s chances were dashed when he suffered a flat tire and fell behind. In the final stretch, Piotr Havik almost bridged the gap, but it was Gademan who outsprinted Lindberg, achieving an average speed of 35.71 km/h.
The women’s race also featured some notable top-tier riders, including multiple world and Olympic champion Marianne Vos. The women started 5 minutes behind the men, and the race remained closely contested for a long time. Around the halfway point, Pauliena Rooijakkers launched a solo attack, with Tessa Neefjes closely following. However, Rooijakkers proved to be the strongest rider, finishing more than 6 minutes ahead of Carolin Schiff, who had previously won races in Spain and Germany earlier in the season. Moniek Tenniglo secured third place overall, outpacing
Marianne Vos in the sprint. Neefjes finished 7th after some bad luck in the second half. The average speed of Rooijakkers was 33km/h.
In the 80km race counting as qualifier distance for the men over 60 and women over 50, German Hermann Sinnigen and Dutch Judith Van Maanen impressed winning the overall male and female race.
