UCI Gravel World Series: Weekend Preview

This weekend, the UCI Gravel World Series heats up with two races taking place on different continents. On Saturday, riders will compete in the Monsterrando in Italy and the Khomas100 in Namibia. La Monsterrando is a long-term UCI gravel event serving as qualifier since the first year in 2022 while Khomas100 is a new event to the series.

Monsterrando (Fubine, Italy)

The Monsterrando race is held in the picturesque Monferrato wine region in Piemonte, an area known for its “strade bianche”. The 120km qualifier distance for the younger riders has 1790m of elevation with a flatter southern loop and a more challenging northern part.  The 80km mediofondo as qualifier for the older riders skips the north-eastern part and has 940m of elevation.  470 riders have entered the race

Khomas100 (Windhoek, Namibia)

Over in Africa, the Khomas100 will be taking place in Windhoek, Namibia. This event is unique as it will also serve as the African Gravel National Championships, adding an extra layer of competition for African riders. The 155km course starts in the capital city with a paved section to quickly enter long gravel section going downwards to the Swakop River towards the NWR Gross Barmen Resort in Okahandja where the race finishes.  A shorter 84km course starts halfway as qualifier for the older categories.

550 riders have signed up coming from 15 different countries.
