Daan Soete (BEL) and Nicola Frain (AUS) have proven to be ready for the World Championships. Both riders from Ridley Racing Team have secured the victories in men and women elite in Girona yesterday.
In the men elite, Soete beated French former road champion Dorian Godon in the sprint at the end of the 107km race. Both had a 1m32 gap to Stan Dewulf (BEL) and 2m45 to Petr Vakoc (CZE) and Romain Bardet (FRA) who finished fourth and fifth.
Soete’s teammate Nicole Frain was the best female, securing her victory with an impressive 5m54 lead to French Emilie Morier with Spanish Marta Tora Mila as third a few seconds later.
With this win, Frain also secures her first spot in the UCI women ranking at the end of the season to take a good position at the start of the upcoming World Championships.
