901 riders from 37 different countries are signed up for the second edition of the German UCI Gravel World Championships qualifier in Singen.
The course is almost the same as last year with elites and younger categories battling over two laps of 54km, totalling 108km and 1900m of elevation. Men over 60 and women over 50 can get their ticket for worlds in a 54km race over 1 lap. The course is a mix of flat and fast terrain combined with short but steep hills.
Amongst the favourites, we see the actual leader in the points ranking Mathijs Loman (Ned), runner up Petr Vakoc (Cze), Daan Soete (Bel), Joris Niewenhuis (Ned), Felix Stehli (Sui), Lukas Postlberger (Aut), Mees Hendrickx (Ned), Daniel Geismayr (Aut), Ben Thomas (Gbr) and Sasha Weber (Ger). Last year’s winner Jonas Koch (Ger) might also start now that the Tour selection for his Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team has been announced.
The women elite win will be a battle between the actual leader in the UCI points ranking Wendy Oosterwoud (Ned), national champion Carolin Schiff (Ger), Annabel Fisher (Gbr), Nicole Frain (Aus), Olympic and World track champion Lisa Klein (Ger), Karolina Migon (Pol), Hanna Nilsson (Swe), Klara Sofie Skovgard Hansen (Den), local Jade Treffeisen (Ger) and last week’s winner in Switzerland Sophie Wright (Gbr).
