Govekar and Cromwell Dominate Sea Otter Europe Girona

UCI Gravel World Series

The penultimate qualifier for the World Championships last Saturday featured intense competition among top riders on a challenging 107km course with 1828m of elevation.

In the men’s race, Matevz Govekar, fresh from his stage win at the Tour of Britain, showcased his impressive form. The Slovenian, originally tasked with supporting his compatriot and world champion Matej Mohoric, stepped up after Mohoric’s withdrawal due to a crash during the recon ride and secured a dominant victory in the sprint over German champion Paul Voss and Czech Petr Vakoc.

In the women’s race, Tiffany Cromwell broke away from German rival Valeria Kleiner in the final kilometers to claim a convincing win by 23 seconds. French rider Axelle Dubau-Prevot finished third overall, 1 minute and 21 seconds behind the winner.
