The third last qualifier event of the season in the TREK UCI Gravel World Series this weekend in Beechworth (VIC – AUS) was a tough and challenging one with a fast race and a hilly final.
In the 115km race, Adam Blazevic showed all the best taking his second victory after having won Seven earlier in May and battled for victory in most of the European qualifiers in the past weeks and months. He won with a 7 seconds margin to Cameron Scott and Jack Aitken who got third at 12 seconds. The average speed of the front group was 33.4 km/h
Justine Barrow was the overall female winner in an average speed of just below 30 km/h. She won 27 seconds ahead of Samara Sheppard while Courtney Sherwell took overall third 13 minutes later.
In the 75km race, counting as qualifier for all men over 60 and women over 50, Brett Lindstrom took the win before john Allison and Craig Peacock while Daniela Mollica finished overall 7th to take the female with ahead of Meredith Clark and Diane Edwards.
The course showed the best the region had on offer with splendid gravel roads in Australia’s High Country.
