Bardet and Wright dominate tough Monaco Gravel Race

The Monaco Gravel Race delivered a brutally selective race yesterday, producing big gaps and decisive victories in both elite races. On a demanding course, Romain Bardet (FRA) claimed victory in the men’s elite.

Bardet crossed the line solo after an impressive ride, finishing 3 minutes and 14 seconds ahead of Paul Voss (GER) with his compatriot Sascha Weber completing the podium, a further 18 seconds back at 3m32. Bardet’s average speed on the hard course was 31.63 km/h.

In the women’s elite race, Sophie Wright (GBR) proved equally dominant. She rode away from the competition to take a convincing victory, averaging 26.91 km/h over the course. Nicole Frain (AUS) finished second after three UCI wins in the past weeks, 7 minutes and 55 seconds behind, while Jade Wiel (FRA) secured third place at nearly 20 minutes down, highlighting just how hard the race was and how widely spread the field became.
