The second year of the TREK UCI Gravel World Series is about to be launched this weekend with La Indomable, a first challenging event in Andalucia.
The 97km course in Berja (province of Almeria) starts with a 25km climb towards 1500m to then continue further up to reach its peak halfway at 2079m for a total elevation of 2400m+.
The shorter 44km distance as qualifier for men over 60 and women over 50 has the same challenging start but takes a shortcut totalling 1195m+.
Apart from the start and finish sections, the full course is on gravel. Alejandro Valverde and his Movistar gravel team are present at the start together with 630 others from 14 different countries.
The second season of the TREK UCI Gravel World Series promises to be much bigger than the inaugural year with many events surpassing 1000 entries already now and events even selling out.
The 2023 UCI Gravel World Championships are taking place in Veneto (ITA) again on 7-8 October.
