Grand Tour 3 Cime Lavaredo is a unique gravel event in the Dolomites, organized by the team running the 2023 UCI Gravel World Championships in Pieve di Soligo where Matej Mohoric and Kasia Niewiadoma grabbed the titles.  The event takes place in the region known for its iconic battles in the Giro d’Italia.

Course

The course of the new Grand Tour 3 Cime Lavaredo gravel is challenging with its 3200m of elevation and 133km.  The race starts and finishes in the ski-village of Auronzo di Cadore at an elevation of 831m above sea level.  After the start, the race quickly enters a long climb with a first peak after 10km in Danta di Cadore (elevation 1441m) before entering a long descent.  A second climb starts just after the 30km mark to reach the Klammbach peak after 40km at an elevation of 1929m.  This peak is the highest point on course.  After the descent, the middle section of the course is flatter with a smaller climb around the 80km mark.  A last challenge follows with the Passo Tre Crocci (elevation 1795m).  Riders reach the summit after 100km.  The last part back to Auronzo di Cadore is all in downhill.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo – The Icon of the Dolomites

The Classic Tre Cime Loop

  • Difficulty: Moderate; well-marked paths with some rocky sections.
  • Highlights:
    • Rifugio Lavaredo and Rifugio Locatelli for rest and views.
    • Forcella Lavaredo viewpoint for the iconic north-face panorama.
    • Detours to alpine lakes and Cadini di Misurina for photography.
