Mads Würtz Schmidt and Erica Magnaldi grab European titles in last qualifier op the season

The 2025 UEC European Gravel Championships in Avezzano has been dominated by Danish Mads Würtz Schmidt who powered away on the second lap to finally win with a large 5m47 gap to Norwegian Anton Stensby who beated French Hugo Drechou in the sprint.  The biggest win so far for Würtz Schmidt and a fifth win in the UCI Gravel World Series this season after earlier victories in Turnhout, Monaco, Blaavands and Houffalize.

The fight for the title in the women elite was intenser with a sprint deciding on the European title who was for home rider Erica Magnaldi who outsprinted Sophie Wright from Great Britain with German Rose Klöser finishing third at 43 seconds.  The rest of the field was at large distance.
