In the women elite race, Rosa Klöser (GER) put down the hammer right from the start to quickly make a gap with Marielle Trouwborst (NED) and Nicole Louise Frain (AUS) to break away solo after 20km. Klöser passed with a 5 minute lead after 1 lap and finally won with a 7m25 margin to last week’s winner Sophie Wright (GBR) while Trouwborst finished as third at 12m46. A second win for Klöser who also impressed in Vianden two weeks ago.
In the Men elite, a large group of 16 remained together during the first lap from which three men got away during the second half. Mathijs Loman (NED) fought a hard battle with last year’s winner Jonas Koch (GER) to finally win in the sprint after the two had dropped Felix Stehli (SUI) in the final. Stehli secured his third spot at 29 seconds.
With this win, Loman enlarges his gap in the points ranking of the UCI Gravel World Series. Wendy Oosterwoud (NED) remains in the lead in the women’s ranking after finishing 8th in Singen.
