The first edition of the Eislek Gravel Luxembourg in Vianden this Saturday ended in a sprint of 3 with Mathijs Looman (NED) outsprinting Petr Vakoc (CZE) and Mees Hendrikx (NED) after a challenging race with lots of elevation on both sides of town. The start up to the Vianden Castle and further up the mountain was extremely steep and with the hot temperatures also challenging by the end of the race.
With this victory in an average speed of 33.6km/h, Loman grabs back the lead in the points ranking of the UCI Gravel World Series after having scored a lot of points early in the season.
In the women’s elite category, Germany’s Rosa Klöser dominated, winning with an average speed of 30.4 km/h. She finished a impressive 5 minutes and 29 seconds ahead of last week’s winner in Denmark Larissa Hartog (NED), and over 10 minutes clear of Axelle Dubau-Prévot (FRA) who won the qualifier in France.
