The third edition of The Gralloch, the UK’s premier gravel event, is poised for an epic battle as a record 2392 riders have taken all available spots a full month before the race. This overwhelming enthusiasm underscores the event’s growing reputation and the allure of its challenging course.
Nestled within the scenic Galloway Forest, this unique circuit stands out as a gem in the UCI Gravel World Series. The 111km route presents a total elevation gain of 1761m. Riders will face an immediate challenge right after a short paved start, tackling a 6.5km gravel climb that leads them to the highest point of the course at Fuffock Hill.
The mid-point of the race features Slaughter Hill. If the race is not decided there, it is likely to be around Loch Grannoch, located just 20km before the finish line. Fortunately, the final 13km provide some respite, guiding competitors back to asphalt for a mostly downhill run to the finish.
The elite men’s field is stacked with talent. Cycling stars such as Petr Vakoc, Nathan Haas, Chad Haga, Jasper Ockeloen, Matthew Holmes, Toby Perry, and Cameron Mason are all expected to be in contention for the top honors.
The women’s elite race is equally compelling, with a strong lineup of contenders ready to battle for victory. The anticipated frontrunners include Ashleigh Moolman, Tessa Neefjes, Kaitlyn Rauwerda, Xan Crees, Danni Shrosbree, and Hayley Simmonds.
