The Ceder offers an unforgettable gravel cycling experience tomorrow. The race is new to the UCI Gravel World Series and hosted in the stunning Cederberg region of South Africa. This challenging yet picturesque race has already garnered significant attention, drawing both experienced gravel riders but also newcomers to its diverse terrain.
Nestled just a three-hour drive north of Cape Town, the Cederberg region offers a truly spectacular backdrop for this event. The race will commence and conclude at the charming Nuwerust Farm, providing a central hub for all the action.
The Ceder caters to a range of abilities with two distinct course options. The demanding Ceder Gran Fondo covers a distance of 151 kilometers and features a significant 2500 meters of elevation gain, serving as qualifying event for younger age groups aiming for the UCI Gravel World Championships. For those looking for a slightly less strenuous challenge, The Ceder Medio Fondo offers a 68-kilometer route with 850 meters of climbing, providing a qualifying opportunity for men aged 60 and over, as well as women aged 50 and over. The longer 151km course immediately tests riders with a climb shortly after the start, leading them through scenic vineyards and culminating in a challenging false flat section.
The Ceder has already attracted a diverse international field, with 242 participants representing 12 different nationalities.
